Okay this is my chance to show (if any) where this site has been reviewed, won awards, or got panned or indeed I've appeared in the media in some shape or form. Hopefully there will be more positive stuff then negative but we'll see.

Home Page Of The Week, Boyz Issue 506 Saturday 11th April 2001 What now seems like squillions of years ago (or right at the bottom of this page) can be found my first "award" which was becoming one of the Sonow.Net homepages of the week (the ISP arm of the Pink Paper) - I was really chuffed then and still am, and they've still got a link to my site. But there's been one gay press recognition that's always really meant something - it's the Boyz Homepage of the Week. Boyz is a free gay magazine which gets nationally distributed in Gay venues across the UK every week. It's fun and funky and a must read if you want to know what's going on. Those sites I look up to as "online institutions" have all been reviewed so you can imagine I as pleased as punch when I got an email from Matt in the Boyz office to tell me I was next. Click on the scan of the review (left) to see it enlarged or the text has been transcribed below. This week, we've dragged our mouse to 'Spencer's Little Corner Of The Universe' to look into the life of this Brighton 25-year-old at www.spenceruk.org. Spencer works for the London Borough of Merton, but has created a fun homepage, with loads of wit and wisdom, as well as his marital status 'Err... single, I think. Subject to change. All offers gratefully received. *grin*' and stats: "Forgive me, this is the bit I hate writing. All details are approx and subject to the best guesses of my friends... 5'7", short shaved brown hair, hazel-ish eyes. You wanted more? Oh dear... I get easily embarassed! Try looking at the pictures'. We did, and although we can't guess the size of his package or his religion, he looks like Glen Berry from Beautiful Thing, which works for us... |

Interviewed by Radio 4 for the What do they know about us? programme, to be broadcast on the 1st and 8th May 2001. This was an interesting one as a few people from work were confused as to why someone from the BBC would want to speak to anyone from Merton. I had to explain politely that it wasn't the place, but a question of who I knew *grin* They wanted to speak to someone about Big Brother and the Internet i.e. organisations monitoring computer use by employees and other users. Hopefully I made the case that it was more hype than actual risk, so no commission from the filtering companies this month ;-) Details of the broadcast and possibly some audio snippets will be posted here as soon as I find out the details.

Sports and Shorts 9, March 10th 2001 Not quite hot on the heels of the THT modelling but I appeared on one of the posters for Sports and Shorts 9, look closely and you'll miss me. Terrence Higgins Trust In Two Minds Campaign, December 2000/January 2001 Possibly one of the things I've done in my life which I'm really, really proud I did. Homepage of the Week, So Now Web Site This will always be cool 'cause it was my first "award" and was completely out of the blue.. (er pink?). Anyhow apart from attracting loads of visitors to my site it was just nice for someone to turn around and say "we think your site is good enough to be homepage of the week". Then I'd like to thank my mother, my agent..... |
